With a diverse role across with our clinics, the position has hands on responsibilities running consults, assisting with hospital operations and surgery. Cert II or IV qualifications (or 1+ years equivalent experience working in the animal industry) will be highly favoured. This opportunity offers an attractive remuneration package and a supportive work/life roster. The position is full-time (attractive 4 day week) and a 1 in 4 weekend shift. It is fast- paced, high pressure but highly rewarding, working amongst one of the best and most supportive teams in the industry.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be working at the heart of our hospital working alongside our nursing and veterinary teams.Your days will include:
- Overseeing hospital and day patient treatments and procedures.
- Overseeing and assisting junior staff with their responsibilities
- Surgery patient care (including anaesthetic monitoring).
- Blood sampling, catheterisation and in-house diagnostic testing.
- Consult nurse duties including client education and assisting the veterinarians with consults and billing.
- All basic veterinary nurse duties including cleaning, surgical instrument sterilisation, upholding WHS protocols and patient handling.
- Assisting with reception duties, including taking phone calls, greeting and discharging patients/clients and payment handling.

About Us
Our purpose-built hospital at 61 Hospital Road, Emerald is known for delivering exceptional veterinary care across the Central Highlands. With 4 consult rooms, double surgery suites, separate dog and cat wards, and a state-of-the-art treatment area, we’re equipped for everything from routine care to complex orthopaedic surgeries. We’re proud of our high standards, our compassionate team, and the strong relationships we build with clients and their pets.
We also have a satellite clinic in Blackwater that is open 3 days a week. It is a newly built practice with all the bells and whistles, running on a small fun team. Shifts at this location are shared between the staff with travel time and transport included for any rostered shifts there.
We also operate a large animal hospital and equine breeding centre (Maraboon Rural Vet Services) and Pet Resort in Emerald. The Maraboon Pet Resort is also undergoing a building extension and a new vet clinic will be open there in late 2026, so we need more exceptional staff coming on board to fill the new positions.
