AVA Annual Conference

The AVA Annual Conference is run over five days, including four days of lectures in eight concurrent streams and a day of practical workshops and field trips.

Targeted events based on area of interest

Most of the AVA’s special interest groups contribute to the integrated continuing professional development program that caters to veterinarians in all areas of private practice, as well as to those in industry, universities and government departments. Many of the AVA SIGs also hold stand-alone conferences each year.

The larger events are: ASAV Annual Conference (small animals); Bain-Fallon Memorial Lectures (Equine Veterinarians Australia); Australian Cattle Veterinarians Annual Conference; and the Veterinary Business Group Annual Conference.

State-based annual conferences and local branch events

Most state and territory divisions hold annual weekend conferences. Local AVA branches hold continuing professional development events throughout the year, including evening seminars, monthly journal club meetings and one or two day events. For information on upcoming events, visit the AVA website or contact your state Division Office.

AVA member veterinarians receive significant discounts when attending its events. Non-member veterinarians can also attend but may wish to consider the broader value of AVA membership and join to receive the discounted event pricing. At some conferences, non-veterinarians are encouraged to attend – practice managers and veterinary nurses.

AVA members also have access to other continuing professional development opportunities including: discussion forums, the VetEd library and webinars.

For more information about the benefits of AVA membership visit the AVA website.
