Part Time/Casual Vet Nurse Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our close knit team! Our available Nursing position is 3-4 days per week plus 1 Saturday in five, and preferably the capacity to cover periods where the other nurses are on holidays or personal leave.

We are a busy, privately owned small animal practice located in the beautiful suburb of The Gap. You will be joining our current team of three Veterinarians, and three Veterinary Nurses in providing outstanding patient care and exceptional customer service.

We are extremely passionate about patient care but also like to have a bit of fun in the workplace too. Our local community demographic and experienced Veterinary staff enable us to have a varied & plentiful case load, providing the perfect opportunity for learning and expanding your skillset within the workplace.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Reception duties, customer service & product advice

  • Surgical patient admission & discharge

  • Pre- and post-operative patient care

  • Surgical preparation including blood collections, placing intravenous access, calculating & administering premedications

  • Surgical nursing including patient & equipment preparation, anaesthesia monitoring, recovery & care of surgical instruments & equipment

  • General hospital nursing

  • Laboratory nursing including in-house blood & urine testing, preparation for external laboratory testing

  • Administrative duties & general cleaning

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent highly desired but not essential (Current students considered)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both alone and within a team to support co-workers

  • Excellent multitasking skills and ability to complete set tasks/duties within specified deadlines

  • An interest in all aspects of Veterinary Nursing including customer service and animal care

  • Flexibility

  • A sense of humour!

  • Experience with Cornerstone software is an advantage.
