Project Vet Nurse / Educator

AMRRIC currently has a position available in the role of Project Vet Nurse / Educator, working as part of our team and under the guidance of our Head of Operations to deliver companion animal health programs in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, which includes setting up field clinics to deliver veterinary services, desexing, preventative health treatments such as anti-parasitics administration, and treatments for injury and illness.    

AMRRIC (Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities Ltd) is a national not-for-profit organisation that advocates and coordinates culturally safe veterinary and education programs in rural and remote Australian Indigenous communities. AMRRIC exists to assist and empower communities to meet their needs for companion animal health, care, and safety. By working with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve the health of their pets, we are working towards our vision of Healthy Animals, Healthy, Proud Communities. 

The Project Vet Nurse / Educator role, based from our Darwin office, are integral to ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of AMRRIC’s remote veterinary and education programs, through stock and logistics management and leading teams of peer professionals on ground. 

You’ll be contributing to community wide One Health programs that improve both human and animal health and wellbeing.

Our ideal candidate will be flexible and work effectively in coordinating all aspects of remote programs in a busy delivery season.  A clear communicator with sound organisational skills and the confidence to problem solve will thrive in these exciting roles.  Holding relevant qualifications and experience, you will contribute to a professional veterinary service delivery program supported by an extensive remote veterinary clinical protocols and equipment to provide best-practice delivery to remote communities.
